Chess.com Game Review Alternative (Free, No Daily Limit)
If the daily limit on Chess.com Game Review is what stops you, you can paste the same PGN into a free tool that has no daily limit and needs no signup. The trade-off: our free review gives you facts and playable lines, not written explanations. Those are still in development.
What you give up, and what you keep
You keep the review itself: an accuracy score, a label for every move, and the key moments of the game. Each key moment gets one sentence you can check on the board and a line you can play out. There is no daily cap and no account.
You give up written, plain-language explanations. Some tools below offer them, usually behind a daily limit or a payment. We are building ours, called Coach, and it is not available yet.
How the free options compare
Every cell links to the official page it came from. Where we could not find a statement, the cell says “Not stated” instead of guessing.

Which one should you pick?
- You review many games a week and want no cap: a browser-based review such as ours, or the Lichess analysis board.
- You want a written reason for each move: look at the explanation features in the table, and check how many games the free plan covers.
- You want a bigger engine than a browser can run: a server-side engine, such as the ones Lichess and Chessify describe, is the better fit.
Our engine is Stockfish 18 lite. It is a smaller build than a desktop engine, so on a sharp position it may look less deep than a server. In our tests it catches the big swings in club games, and the review marks which positions it re-checked with a deeper search.
Try it on a game you already reviewed
Copy the PGN from the game page on Chess.com and paste it in the box above. Then read the review page for that game, or run several games through the report to see which kinds of mistakes repeat. You can also open the Chess.com tab in the import box, enter your username and pick a recent game.
How we tested
On 2026-10-27 we read the official public pages of each product: Chess.com Help Center articles and its membership page, the Lichess features, FAQ and import pages, and the DecodeChess and Chessify home and pricing pages. We fetched them with a normal browser user agent, without logging in. If a page showed a price or a limit only after JavaScript ran, or only to a signed-in user, we wrote “Not stated”.
Separately, we ran our own hands-on tests on the same date. On Chess.com, Game Review needed an account, and a free account got one review before a “daily limit reached” message appeared. On Lichess, the in-browser analysis needed no login; only server analysis asked us to sign in. These are our observations from that day, not official statements, and the services can change.
Questions
Is there really no daily limit?
Right. The engine runs on your own device, so a review costs us nothing per game and nothing counts how many you run. The limit is your device: in our tests on one laptop, games took roughly 10 to 30 seconds.
Will the results match Chess.com Game Review?
Not exactly. Different engine versions, search budgets and scoring rules give different numbers. Use our labels and lines as a second opinion, and compare them with the numbers on the platform where you played.
How do I move a Chess.com game over?
Open the game, click Share, choose the PGN tab and download or copy it, then paste it on the PGN analyzer. Chess.com describes these steps in its Help Center.
